Who We Are

About Envy:

David Wilson, principal, of Envy is a licensed General Contractor in the city of Calgary.

With more than ten years experience, David concentrates on detail, making sure that the little things are thought through, ensuring that whether you are renovating, or building new, the finished product reflects pride of workmanship throughout.

With established long term trade relationships and a commitment to thinking through eco-focussed solutions, we have overcome a number of the typical “premiums” associated with integrating green materials and technologies.

Envy tries to take life cycle into account with all our decisions, while realizing that we cannot and do not know it all. As this industry continues to evolve, we strive to remain familiar with the most innovative solutions available. As a contractor that recognizes the need to balance cost effectiveness, longevity and the environment, we try to challenge ourselves NOT to do it that way because we’ve always done it that way, but to do it that way because it is the best way to do it.

About David:

Born in Calgary, David Wilson, Principal of Envy Eco-Focussed Environments, became a contractor out of necessity. Half way through the construction of his first infill project, his “General Contractor” took off with a bunch of money and left a pile of unpaid bills.

With his reputation and financial well being at stake, David took over the reins and has not looked back. The first infill project proved successful, leading to several others and evolving into Envy Eco-focussed Environments in 2005.

David is a graduate of the University of British Columbia, and Western Canada High here in Calgary. With a Bachelor of Arts focussing on Economics and Geography of the Pacific Rim, Envy projects often reflect subtle Asian influences, evolving into a distinct contemporary or modern aesthetic.

Envy designs generally start and finish in house but we rely on a trusted group of design professionals to translate to paper the needs of our clients, to facilitate permitting and often to provide sober second thought to ensure we are on the right track.
